BOOKS and literacy were the themes for the day at Montclair Junior Primary School on Monday, September 13.
Playing the nurturing role that they do, teachers took their learners outside to enjoy a good storybook.
The event ended with learners in great spirits having absorbed an exciting story in a fun environment.
“The school celebrated International Literacy Day by inviting all the children and their teachers to the field.”
“The teachers dressed in character and some classes made props for their story and we celebrated by reading outside.”
“We hope that this encourages learners to read and realise that reading, writing, and learning more will help them to go further,” said the school’s librarian, Rozelle Munien.
Shanice Crook dressed as Willy Wonka read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to her Grade 3 learners Christal Kwangwari, Emihle Mngadi, Ayanda Chaincomo, and Suhailiya Khan.
Grade 2 teacher, Mrs Ndwalane has her learners engaged as she reads to them.
Teacher Michelle Dasari in character reads to Sinikiwe Sithole, Nizenande Kunene, S’phiwo Ncanana, and Asamkele Miya.
