Municipal units collaborate in Jacobs clean up

In this interdepartmental operation, Sage Road in Jacobs was the area of prioritisation.

ANOTHER clean-up was successfully executed within South Durban communities.

Spearheaded by the South Durban Basin-Area Based Management, the interdepartmental municipal Operation Good Hope yielded gainful results.

The municipality’s Operation Good Hope visited Merebank, Wentworth and Jacobs to fast track service delivery.

The area of prioritisation was Sage Road in Jacobs, where among other things, the roads department did road markings.

The clean-up forms part of a directive from the city’s COO office as being instituted by mayor councillor, Mxolisi Kaunda. Its mandate is to improve the socio-economic and infrastructural conditions of the entire municipality.

The municipality’s Operation Good Hope visited Merebank, Wentworth and Jacobs to fast track service delivery.

The operation’s multi-dimensional approach to service delivery consists of elements such as a clean-up and compliance enforcement as well as a conditional assessment of the area.

The operation was conducted as a collaboration among council units and departments. The departments that were involved in the operation included electricity, parks, safer cities, and DSW.

SDB-ABM’s Irene Chetty said their aim was to uplift business hub in Jacobs.

“We thank Waste Trans, a company based in Jacobs. They assisted extensively by providing a skip, recyclable bags and also removed refuse on the day of clean-up operations.”

“As the SDB-ABM, we are extremely grateful. The glass recycler in the area is also doing a great job. We want to educate and encourage him to continue with this great initiative,” she said.
