SA weather service issues severe thunderstorm warning

The thunderstorms are expected to hit the southern parts of the province this evening.

THE South African Weather Services (SAWS) issued a Yellow Level 1 warning for severe thunderstorms. It advised that these are expected from this afternoon over the southern parts of the province.

SAWS advised that the severe thunderstorms are expected to result in localised flooding to low-lying areas and bridges.

“Localised damage to settlement and infrastructure and over open areas as well as loss of livestock. Minor motor vehicle accidents due to slippery roads and poor visibility are possible today,” SAWS said in a statement.
