WATCH: Displaced flood victims in need of assistance
150 people, who were lucky to have escaped from the area before their homes were washed away, need help.
DWELLERS from the informal settlement near Mega City in Umlazi are being temporarily housed at the Yellowwood Park Civic Hall.
Residents, organisations and the ward councilor, Gavin Hegter, have joined forces to ease the burdens of the 150 people, who have lost all their belongings and were lucky to have escaped before their shacks were washed away into the Umlazi River.
Hegter appealed for assistance from anyone who may be able to donate food, clothing, toilet rolls, sanitary pads, bedding, cutlery and crockery.
Donations were needed for 33 men, 60 women, 17 children and 16 babies.
Anyone willing to assist can contact Sine on 068 229 6450 or items can be dropped off at the hall.
