WATCH: The Amazing Race for children with cancer

The fun-filled event will be held again next year.

THE epic, fun-filled fundraiser in aid of children with cancer had the support of locals and businesses from Bluff to central Durban as participants cascaded through challenges at The Amazing Race on Saturday, May 7.

Organiser of the event, former Bluff resident, Nandia Blom, teamed up with sponsors to create the crazy fundraiser, which sees participants compete to raise funds and get through different challenges at over 25 locations.

Proceeds from the entertaining event were donated to CHOC, the Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa, an organisation which provides free support to families of children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders. Other beneficiaries of The Amazing Race include animal organisation, Bark Angel, as well as Pink Drive, an organisation which provides free cancer pre-screening country-wide.

Nandia, the founder and owner of FemFit, a gym for women only situated in Bluff, which spearheads the race, said she was overwhelmed with the response from residents and businesses alike.

“I’m at a loss for words and I am amazed by the support. We would like to thank all our stops, and the public for supporting this amazing event, which we look forward to hosting again. We also hope this initiative will encourage people to support small local businesses like ours. Our heartfelt thanks go to Bluff Super Spar and Tops, Lords and Legends, Grand Rapid Spur, The Hideout, Pegasus, Felicity Coombs for hosting Fear Factor, Bike and Bean, Suncoast Sunsquare Hotel, Point Yacht Club and The Beach Club. This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of Nadene Lotz, Chas Everitt and Soné Helberg,” said Nandia.

Raffle sheets are still being sold by Femfit. To help raise funds or purchase raffle sheets, send a WhatsApp message to 079 355 9214 or alternatively, email femfitbluff@outlook.com
