Southlands SUN Absolute Best Readers Choice Awards held live
Proud local business owners were honoured with awards in different categories.
A SERENE and inviting atmosphere set the scene for the Southlands SUN Absolute Best Readers Choice Awards 2022 which was held at the Bluff National Golf Club on the evening of Tuesday, June 7.

Every year, Southlands SUN readers get to nominate businesses that they feel offer the best service in their category. The awards were held virtually the past two years, but this year, business owners were excited to get together and network with like-minded individuals.
This year, Southlands SUN introduced the first SUN Hero Award, which was awarded to Bluff resident, Blayne Knight.
Blayne was recognised for his courageous efforts and noble qualities and was both surprised and overwhelmed when he was announced as the recipient of the prestigious award.
In the 2017 floods, Blayne was the ‘Knight’ in shining armour when he pulled a father and child out of a car that was stuck in deep water. At a Durban North beach, he assisted locals off the beach when the super tide hit Durban many years ago, but more recently, he encountered a situation where he risked his own life to save four strangers.
Blayne jumped into a raging river with only a rope tied to his waist on the morning of Tuesday, April 12, to rescue four strangers trapped under a bridge on Bayhead Road.
As a member of the Bluff RTL8 team, Blayne is no stranger to lending a helping hand and has also been involved in relief efforts during the floods and the water crisis.
