JUST IN: Two shot dead, two caught after high-speed chase in Merebank

A pedestrian is fighting for his life after he was hit by the suspects’ car during a high-speed chase on Tara Road.

TWO suspects were killed and two others were apprehended after a high-speed chase on Tara Road in The Bluff this afternoon, May 9. The incident happened on The Bluff, and the suspects drove towards Merebank.

According to sources at the scene, the suspects tried to hijack a car earlier today on The Bluff, however, they were swiftly thwarted by law enforcement.

In a bid to evade arrest, the suspects sped off towards Tara Road and the police gave chase. Joining the chase were security companies, members of the SAPS and Durban Central Police.

A pedestrian who was walking on the road was hit by the suspects’ car while trying to cross the road at the scene. He was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A source said, “The two arrested suspects will be handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.”

Attempts to get a comment from the police were unsuccessful as this is an active crime scene.
