Poultry truck hijacked in Merebank, recovered without chickens
After a tip-off, the hijacked truck from Merebank was recovered hours later in Umlazi without the poultry loot.
A FULLY loaded truck with chickens was hijacked yesterday morning (October 24) on the N2 near Merebank by suspects who fled the scene with the poultry cargo.

PT Alarms Tactical Unit said the hijackers were seen travelling in a gold-coloured sedan. A motorist who witnessed the hijacking immediately called the PT Alarms Tactical Unit, who responded and began searching for the suspects and the hijacked vehicle.
PT Alarms Tactical Unit said they received a tip-off about the location of the vehicle while on routine patrol duties. The truck was recovered in the Umlazi J section, but the truck was empty and without the chickens.
The responders were praised for their swiftness and commitment to finding the hijacked vehicle.
