JUST IN: Jacobs factory on fire

It is believed that a transformer at the property caught fire, causing the entire building to catch fire. No injuries have been reported.

EMERGENCY services are currently at the scene on the corner of Chamberlain and Quality Streets in Jacobs where a factory caught fire earlier this morning (December 18). Preliminary reports from the scene indicate that a transformer blew up at the factory and caused the fire to spread to the building.

Residents in the vicinity of the factory have reported seeing thick black smoke coming from the industrial area.

ALS spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said paramedics and other emergency services are currently at the scene.
