Merebank resident found dead at Punjab Circle
The body of a man, believed to be a resident of Merebank, was discovered at Punjab Circle with multiple stab wounds.

A BODY of a man has been found at the Punjab Circle in Merebank today (January 19).
The man, believed to be a resident in the area, was found lying in Punjab Circle. According to the police, the man sustained multiple stab wounds in the body.
According to PT Alarms, their control room received calls about the body that was lying at the Punjab Circle.

In a statement PT Alarms said their response officers, the K9, Armed Response units and Wentworth police responded to the callout.
“It was discovered that the man is a resident in the area. The deceased was found with what appeared to be stab wounds. “The circumstances surrounding the death of the man are unknown at this stage and is subject to police investigation,” said PT Alarms in a statement.
Police spokesperson in Wentworth, Captain Mbuso Gumede, said a case of murder has been opened.
“When the police arrived at the scene, the body of the man was lying on a grass patch along Punjab Circle. The details about the victim will not be released to the public at this stage until his family members have been informed. The police are working on this matter, no arrest has been made at this stage,” said Gumede.
The Wentworth police are appealing to the public to assist with information that will lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
