11 learners injured in a Clairwood taxi crash

Learners from five years old to 12 years old were injured after a taxi collided head-on with another vehicle in Clairwood.

ELEVEN learners were injured when a taxi they were travelling in collided head-on with another vehicle at the corner of Harden Avenue and Umhlatuzana Road in Clairwood at 07:00 today (September 11).

Spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Garrith Jamieson said  children between five  and 12 years old had sustained various injuries.

“Multiple ALS Paramedics ambulances were dispatched to assist. Once all of the injured had been stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Durban hospitals,” he said. 

Jamieson added that at this stage the events leading up to the crash are unknown. The police were in attendance and will be investigating further.
