2025 Matric results: Release dates and how to find your results
The 2025 matric results will be released by Minister of Education Siviwe Gwarube on January 12 and matriculants can access it the next day.
THE Department of Basic Education has officially announced the date for the release of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) results for 2025 as January 12 for national results and January 13 for matriculants across the Durban South.

The Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, will once again share the national results, highlighting the national pass rates, top performing learners as well as the top performing provinces.
Where and when can matriculants receive their results?
Matriculants will be able to access their personal results from January 13 through one of the following two ways.
- Candidates are urged to get their statement of results from their school/centre where they wrote the exams.
- The candidates’ results will also be available on the Department of Education website (https://www.education.gov.za/MatricResults/ExamResults/tabid/175/Default.aspx) from 06:00 on January 13.

The department is also urging candidates to take note of their statement of results and ensure it reflects the correct names and identity numbers. If you encounter any errors or issues you have until February 20 to contact the department. If you are struggling to find your results on the website, the department said this normal as due to technical problems some results can take a bit longer to load on.
Re-mark and re-check applications
Matriculants who are not satisfied with their performance results can also apply for a remark or re-check of their examination results at applicable fees. Registration can be done at either the school or district office in the province or online at www.eservices.gov.za.
Opening date for applications is 13 January 2026, and the closing date for applications is 27 January 2026 for both manual applications and online applications.
Fees for re-marking and re-checking per subject:
- Re-mark: R120.
- Re-check: R30.
The script viewing process can only take place after the re-mark or re-check process has been done. The application to view a script on the results of the re-mark or re-check can only take place within seven days of the release of the results of the re-mark or re-check at a fee of R230 per subject. The outcome of the re-marking can be accessed from March 13 at the school/centre you wrote your examination at.
New supplementary exam dates:
The department added that the supplementary exams in February/March have been phased out. A new examination is available during May/June where candidates can improve their results or complete outstanding results. The closing date for application for 2026 is February 6.
Conditions for entry
- Candidates can only register for subjects which they were registered for in any previous November examination.
- Candidates who were absent with a valid reason (medical unfit, death in the immediate family or other special reasons*) from one or more external question papers, may register for the NSC June examination, provided they have valid external paper marks (PAT, Oral and SBA).
- Any NSC candidate (who wrote exams from 2008 November onwards) who wants to improve their overall achievement status or only wants to improve the achievement of a subject, may register for the NSC June examination.
- In the case where a candidate was absent for one or more papers in the November exam with a valid reason, the candidate has to write all the papers for the registered subject(s).
- In a case where an irregularity is being investigated, provisional enrolment for NSC June examination may be granted to the candidate concerned, pending the outcome of the investigation.
- Result queries should be submitted for investigation within 30 days after the release of results.
