Captain Cheryl Pillay, the Montclair police station spokesperson, said a complainant opened a case of an alleged carjacking at the Montclair Police Station on May 10.
“The complainant reported that armed suspects had accosted him, and thereafter forcibly took his motor vehicle, a white Toyota. This investigation was assigned to Detective Sergeant Msizi Cyprian Msomi of the serious and violent crimes unit.
“Msomi then engaged his informer network, and established that the complainant had sold his vehicle, and thereafter opened a false case. He was arrested for defeating the ends of justice on August 29. Further investigations led Msomi to a property in Inanda, where he recovered the vehicle,” she said.
