New Year’s blessing: Donation drive for St Monica’s Children’s Home

The Widowed and Single Parents organisation has embarked on a stationery drive and appeals to the community for donations.

THE Widowed and Single Parents (WASP) organisation has kicked off the year by doing what they do best: giving back to the community. The organisation underwent a donation drive collecting different foods as well as preloved and new clothes for the St Monica’s Children’s Home.

The St Monica’s Children’s Home is home to about 86 children. WASP co-founder Brian Naidoo said humanitarian work is their passion.

“We were able to supply them with many bags of preloved / good used clothing, 50 cans of baked beans, 180 eggs, 200 teabags, polony and a variety of spices and sauces,” said Naidoo.

WASP has emerged as a catalyst for change, advocating for more than 979 individuals in the Wentworth and Bluff area. Naidoo said he was grateful to all those who donated to the cause saying, “Without them, we will not be able to do the things we do.”

WASP is currently running a drive for school shoes and stationery and appeals for donations. Naidoo urged members of the community to get involved and assist if they can.
