AYANDA Gumede was recently crowned Miss World Glitz & Glamour 2024 at an event held in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth).
By winning the title, the Grade 4 learner has qualified to represent South Africa at Little and Teen International in September next year in the Philippines.
She also holds the title of Miss Golden Stars KZN 2024.
Ayanda said she hopes to represent South Africa well overseas and bring the title home.

MADHAV Puran, Grade 6 learner, was recently selected to be apart of the eThekwini district chess team.
During the South African Chess Open held over the June holidays, Madhav showcased his strategic prowess, emerging as the champion in the U14 boys division.
His exceptional performance continued at the eThekwini Youth trials, where he secured a commendable third place in the trials.
He also gained the community’s recognition after placing first place in the Merebank Sports Council’s chess tournament.

KARIS Madamu, a Grade 7 learner, is being recognised for placing first in district 6’s quiz competition.
The City’s Libraries and Heritage Department hosted a schools quiz competition to help hone and improve the literacy skills of the Grade 7 learners.
Karis represented the school in a series of rounds, where she was questioned based on the provided literature.
Karis said she was ecstatic that she won and was happy to represent her school in such a manner.

The head girl of has placed in the top three of her grade since Grade 4.
She has participated in isiZulu storytelling and reciting poems (inkondlo) at district levels.
Vusiwe is also a star on the field participating in netball, hockey and athletics.
Her dedication and commitment to working hard has bestowed her with achievements she has today.

LUNGELO Ngwane, Grade 12, represented his school and KwaZulu-Natal High School Football Association (KZNHSFA) in the Local Football Association Tournament held at Benoni Northern Sports Club from September 27 to 29.
Lungelo played in the U19 team. For him teamwork, communication and mental resilience were some of the key skills he took away from the tournament.
“The tournament really showed me the importance of mental toughness; being focused under pressure can make such a difference when it’s a tight game,” said Lungelo.

Thobeka is the recipient of the Dux Award for the highest achievement in Grade 12. She has obtained five distinction certificates for mathemetics, physical sciences, life sciences, isiZulu and accounting at the recent award ceremony at the school.
Thobeka said, “My consistent outstanding performance is a demonstration of my exceptional dedication and hard work.”
