Vanessa Bandiah of Women of Wonder SA emphasised the organisation’s commitment to educating and empowering women about breast cancer and self-care.

“Every October, we do the breast cancer awareness event to uplift women and teach them. Though I am not a survivor myself, I have lost so many who were close to me, making this personal to me,” she said.

The event provided a supportive space for attendees to learn, grow and network. Among the highlights were presentations from speakers such as oncologist Dr Marion Algar, who offered insights into early detection and treatment, and Thabisile Gasa of the Breast Health Foundation and a breast cancer survivor who shared her inspiring journey.

In addition to the speeches, guests enjoyed interactive games, entertainment and networking opportunities. Free breast cancer screenings were offered by Pink Drive and healthcare tests by Mediskills Healthcare Academy. Bandiah said the event was a major success, and she received positive feedback on the programme.

The annual event has become a cherished and anticipated highlight, embraced by women from across the region.
