Shoplifting trio caught stealing from Montclair Mall

The trio are believed to be part of a group of suspects responsible for a series of shoplifting incidents at stores at the Montclair Mall.

THREE individuals were apprehended after allegedly stealing clothing items, including women’s underwear, from a store in Montclair recently.

The centre manager at the mall, Direshen Govender, said the arrest was made after clothing store employees alerted security guards to the theft in progress.

“The Blue Security and Urban Watch armed response teams responded swiftly and apprehended the suspects when they were exiting the mall,” said Govender in a statement.

Govender said further investigation revealed there were four suspects in total, however, one managed to escape.

“On searching the suspects, security guards recovered three cellphones and women’s underwear. The panties had been concealed inside an empty tin of milk,” he added.

Govender said a case was opened at the Montclair police station. Attempts to get a comment from Montclair police were unsuccessful. Spokesperson for the station Captain Cheryl Pillay did not respond at the time of publishing.
