Theft of cables from trucks on the rise again

The suspects cut the cables that connected the truck and trailer while it was traveling on the M4 Freeway in an attempt to bring the vehicle to a halt.

THE theft of cables from trucks continues to be a problem in Clairwood. On September 25 officers from PT Alarms responded to a callout about a hijacking in progress on the M4 Freeway.

Spokesperson for PT Alarms Dhevan Govindasamy said their officers responded to a callout.

“Prior to the arrival, it was noted that an unknown amount of suspects jumped onto the truck. The suspects cut the cables from the truck to the trailer in an attempt to bring the truck to a halt. Due to the quick reaction from the ground teams, the suspects fled into the bushes with a few cables and a fuel pipe from the truck. The driver and truck were secured,” said Govindasamy in a statement.

At the time of publishing no arrests were made.
