Gala dinner recognises SAPS officers’ work in Ward 64

The Montclair CPF and Spiritual Crime Prevention raised their glasses in appreciation of the members in blue for all their hard work.

THE Montclair Community Policing Forum (CPF) and the Montclair Spiritual Crime Prevention Forum recognised the the SAPS officers’ service and commitment to the community with an awards and dinner gala at the Traybang Hall in Montclair.

Hazel Francis, the Montclair CPF spokesperson, said the dinner sought to raise morale among SAPS members and thank them for their hard work fighting crime.

 “We wanted to show our appreciation for our local officers’ sterling effort in the fight against crime,” said Francis.

The event included speeches from Stanley Malunga, Community Safety and Liaison representative, Lieutenant Colonel Velu Moodley, acting Station Commander of Montclair SAPS, and Aiden David, District CPF chairperson.

Brigadier Ruth de Villiers, Station Commander of Chatsworth SAPS and accounting officer of Montclair SAPS, delivered the keynote address, where she praised Montclair SAPS for their clean audit and noted their compliance.

After the speeches, the awards ceremony took place. Montclair SAPS management chose the award winners from various categories, including best performer in visible policing (Vispol), best support admin, detectives with most convictions, best upcoming detective, community participation and most helpful member.

Francis extended a special shoutout to Blue Security Services for funding the renovation of the Victim Trauma Unit at Montclair SAPS.

Francis also shared her thanks to everyone who had made the dinner the overwhelming success it was and helped strengthen the bond between the CPF and the SAPS.
