WITH Durban being known for its great beaches and coastal lines, there is no surprise that fishing is a common activity in the city.

Here are 5 of the best fishing spots in Durban:

  1. Ansteys Beach
  2. Cuttings beach
  3. Umhlanga Beach
  4. Durban Port
  5. The North and South piers

In order to fish at these spots, you require a recreational fishing permit. You can apply for a permit on the official website of the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment: https://www.fishing.dffe.gov.za/ords/r/epermit/mlep/home?session=9098121794645

You can also visit your nearest post office to maintain a physical permit.

Anyone in the Durban South area or surrounding communities can enjoy recreational fishing at one of these top fishing spots.
