Journalists empowered at annual seminar

Community journalists from across KZN gather at No Guts No Glory seminar for a day of learning and networking.

THE Forum of Community Journalists (FCJ) recently hosted the No Guts No Glory 2026 KZN Seminar in Ballito.

The annual event brings together community journalists from across the province for a day of learning and networking.

Themed Community Journalism in a Digital Landscape, the seminar provided a valuable platform for journalists to strengthen their skills, engage with industry experts, and explore the evolving role of community media in the digital age.

FCJ KZN Director Roelien D’ Amico hands a gift to Mabore Sefara, the Avbob specialist for communication and events.

Equipping journalists with modern storytelling skills, FCJ convenor of judges and Akademia senior lecturer, Dr André Gouws, shared insights on multimedia reporting in his talk entitled The Multimedia Journalist: Telling Stories in a Visual World.

A presentation prepared by award-winning photojournalist Wayne Thomas was also shared and discussed, highlighting the importance of strong visual storytelling in his presentation entitled Through the Lens: The Power of Visual Journalism.
