Wentworth father-son duo develop a word game app

Wentworths’s Noel and Colan Lebon have developed a new educational and entertaining word game app that is free to download.

A love for word games has spurred Wentworth father-son duo, Noel and Colan Lebon, to develop a new word game for mobile devices. Re-Words is a game that tests your knowledge on words.

How did it come about?

Noel said that he has been a big words game player since he was a child in the 70s and 80s. One of his favourites included the popular word game Scrabble.

From this Noel continued to come up with ways in which he could expand his knowledge of words.

” I used also to write the letters from A to Z on pieces of paper, mix them in a cap then pick eight pieces then create as many words I could out of what I got. This love of words made me ask myself what about creating a type of word game unlike anything else,” he said.

With the help of his son Colan, the two were able to launch Re-Words.

How do you play it?

Noel said the concept is to simply think fast, play smart and create words.

“The player is given a set of Scrambled word from which he/she must create as many correct words as he can in a minute. For a word using 3 letters the player gets one point, for a word using 4-5 letters he/she gets two points and for a word using 6-8 letters he/she gets three points,” he said.

The game also comes in different level of difficulties, easy, medium and hard.

Benefits

While like any game, it provides good fun, Noel said that Re-Words can be far more beneficial depending on how you use it.

  • Casual players can enjoy a quick relaxing game
  • Learners can boost their vocabulary, spelling and cognitive speed
  • Word enthusiasts can test their skills and aim for high scores
  • Elderly players can use the app to keep their brain active

How to download?

The game is available for Android (Cellphone and tablet) and PC, it will be released on iOS early next year.
