THE Bluff Marathon has been nominated for Race Route of the Year at the KZN Runner Awards, a significant acknowledgment that places it among KZN’s top road races.

This nomination specifically recognises routes that offer a combination of beautiful scenery, a demanding course, distinctive character, lively community engagement, superior organisation and high safety standards. These specific qualities have made the Bluff Marathon a popular choice for runners throughout the province.

Janine Stadler, secretary of the Bluff Athletic Club, said that this nomination is a direct result of the collective effort put in by numerous individuals behind the scenes, who work year after year to ensure the event’s success.

“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our members and volunteers every year,” she said.

Last day to vote

Stadler urged the community, supporters and runners who have participated in the event to cast their votes. Voting is open until 23:59 tonight (August 3). To vote, send an SMS with the message “Route, Bluff Marathon” to 37671. Each SMS costs R1.50.

A long history

The Bluff Marathon was first held in 1966 and has grown in leaps and bound since. One of the reasons the marathon is so loved is due to its longevity and it being a cherished tradition for many runners on The Bluff and surrounding areas.
