NOTICE APPLICATION FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION
Sparta (Pty) Ltd, is applying in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998), and the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations, 2014, to the Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs; for environmental authorisation at the Basic Assessment level, to extend Mr Boyd Varty`s existing private residence on the western side by 92sqm. It triggers Activity 14 of Listing Notice 3, i.e. the development of structures with a physical footprint of 10 sqm within
32 metres of a watercourse; and Activity 26 of
Listing Notice 3
phased activities for all activities, which accounts for the accumulative disturbance of indigenous vegetation over the last six authorisations on Londolozi issued since 2021.
It is envisaged that the potential negative environmental impacts that will occur as a result of the proposed development will be mitigated through the careful implementation of an environmental management plan, which will be closely and regularly monitored during construction and rehabilitation.
The proposed development will extend Mr Boyd Varty`s existing residential development footprint on the Farm Marthly No. 258KU on the Londolozi Game Reserve, which is part of the Sabi Sands Game Reserve and falls within the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality and the Ehlanzeni District Municipality (DC32) in the Mpumalanga Province.
