NOTICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION APPLICATION FOR A PROSPECTING RIGHT

Notice of a Basic Assessment Process in terms of section 19, Chapter 6 of the 2014 EIA Regulation, and National Water Act 36 of 1998, for an EA associated with the prospecting right application in terms of section 16 of the Mineral and Petroleum Resource Development Act 28 of 2008), as amended.
You are invited to register as an interested and affected party and comment on the prospecting application without bulk sampling to prospect for Coal, Iron ore, Pseudocoal, Torbanite/Oil Shale on portion of portion 5 of the farm Welgevonden 325 IT in the Magisterial District of Gert Sibande in Mpumalanga Province.
Edcor Group (Pty) Ltd (the applicant) has appointed Thevha Sustainable Services (Pty) Ltd (TSS) as an Independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to undertake the application for an EA, together with the associated Public Participation Process (PPP).
Location: The proposed area is located approximately 34,59 km Southeast of Ermelo Town, over a Portion of Portion 5 of the farm Welgevonden 325 IT within the Mpumalanga Province, covering an area of 248 hectares.
The project triggers: GNR. 327, (as amended) LN1: 20. Section 21 activities and additional activities may be identified during the process.
