NOTICE OF PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR BASIC ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS AND PROSPECTING RIGHT APPLICATION Notice is hereby given in terms of Regulation 41 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations 2014, made under Section 24(5) of the National Environment Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) and published in Government Notice No. R.983 of 2014 read together with section 16(4) of the Mineral and Petroleum Resource Development Act (Act no: 28 of 2002) as amended of intent to carry out the following activity: Proposed prospecting activity which will involve prospecting of Coal and Pseudocoal, on Portion 2,3 and remaining extent Farm Katspruit 519 IS, situated within the jurisdiction of Lekwa Local Municipality of Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga Province. DMPR Ref no: MP 30/5/1/1/2/ 17922 PR Site Co-ordinates: 2655`42.4`S 2934`02.5`E Location of the proposed prospecting area: The affected farm is situated approximately 50.1 km south east of Standerton town along R23 road connecting unnamed- road to site. The proposed development activity falls within the categories of R 983 Activity 20 and therefore requires Basic Assessment Process. Please be informed that the Consultative Basic Assessment Report and the Environmental management programme is available for comments for 30 days from date of publication of this notice (29 October 2026
