SATURDAY, 30 APRIL: Birdlife Port Natal hosts a bird course at Paradise Valley. This half day workshop entitled ‘Communication between birds by sound and other means’ is from 9am to 1pm, with registration from 8.30am. Cost is R80 for members and R100 for non-members. Take along a note book and binoculars. There will be refreshments on arrival and at mid-morning. Take along a picnic basket for afterwards. Call Rowena for bookings on 074-495-2406.
SATURDAY, 30 APRIL: Izandla Zethemba Hands of Hope holds a fundraising dance at 6pm at the Pigeon Club, next to the Dutch Club on Tara Road, Bluff. Cost is R70 per ticket. Tickets are limited. THURSDAY, 5 MAY: Fynnlands Combined Sports Club hosts an indoor night craft market between 6pm and 9pm. It promises to be a fun-filled evening with karaoke, sporting activities and more. Call Carol on 031-466-2010 for bookings. Stall fees for crafters only, are R50 and own equipment is required. Limited space is available so book early.
SATURDAY, 7 MAY: Free depression and anxiety support group meetings take place on the first Saturday of each month at Westville North library in Iver Road at 1pm. THURSDAY, 12 MAY: KwaZulu-Natal branch of the South African Military History Society will meet at 7pm for 7.30pm at the Murray Lecture Theatre, Department of Civil Engineering, University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College campus. There will be two talks and the topics will be ‘a historiography of World War I’ by Dr Mark Coghlan and ‘Three Scouts of the Anglo-Boer War and their exploits’ by Alan Townsend. Visitors are welcome.
