Amabujwa FC wins a tight finale against Via Orlando
The Amabujwa Foundation tournament commenced on May 17, where teams competed against one another to advance to the second round.
A heated, tight tournament was held at Mapoto grounds in Killarney, Soweto, on May 25, where eight teams played against each other in the Amabujwa Foundation tournament.
The Amabujwa Foundation is a platform aimed at raising awareness in local communities and reaching out to communities about the sporting code and the great impact soccer has, using it as an escape from social ills like drugs and crime.
The foundation was started by a group of friends who are soccer fanatics and wanted to train both young and old, encouraging them to play for the big teams that we all see.

Sibusiso Nkosi, co-founder of Amabujwa Foundation, said, “Our foundation is aimed at raising awareness; we see that there are a lot of children who are passionate about soccer and hence the foundation and tournaments.
“We have people who also come out to help like Nyama Choma who help in preparing meals for the children.”
He shared that his hope for the tournament was to see a great display of football.
The top 16 tournaments started on May 17 and 18, with four games each day, which led to the advancement of the eight teams that progressed to the next tournament.
The tournament was heated as teams came prepared to win the final, with Gupta FC playing against Eyethu in the first game. Both teams scored 1-1, and the match went straight to penalties, which Gupta won 5-4.

Coach for Gupta FC, Sakhile Nkomo shared that this was a very tight and intense game as they played against a team that had a perfect physique.

“I am very proud of the boys. We won on penalties, and I expected that, as it was a very tight game.
“I would also like to commend Amabujwa for this tournament. It was well-organised. All I can say is that I am beyond ecstatic,” said Nkomo.
Making it to the final, Via Orlando and Gupta FC battled as they strongly competed for the prize. Via Orlando was disqualified, and the Guptas were crowned champions by default with a score of 2-1.
