The Diepkloof police held a surprise school search at Namedi Secondary School last Wednesday.
The police found a knife, 10 rolled joints of dagga, eight boxes of matches, scissors, a screwdriver, nucotrim tablets and hundreds of unedified tablets.
Constable Constance Nyathi said that they also found unknown prescription tablets that may be drugs.
“We are asking parents to work with us. Parents must play their roles in their children’s lives, they should check their bags and schoolbooks,” she said.
Nyathi said that parents should make sure that children are going to school and that there is nothing in their schoolbags that can get them into trouble.
“We urge parents to report anything suspicious. If they suspect or if they know that their children are involved in drugs they should go to the police station so that we can help.
“We urge parents to communicate with their children so that when there is something wrong they turn to their parents not drugs,” she said.
