Stolen Toyota Corolla Cross recovered in Orlando West

JMPD officers recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla Cross that was allegedly being stripped at a yard in the Soweto suburb.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla Cross allegedly being stripped at a yard on Makabeni Street.

According to JMPD, Tactical Response Unit (TRU) officers received information about the vehicle and went to the premises.

When officers arrived at the gate, the suspects allegedly noticed them, jumped over the walls and fled.

Officers searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspects.

They returned to the yard, where they found the Toyota Corolla Cross still idling, with its interior partially stripped.

JMPD said the vehicle was also fitted with false registration plates.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Kibler Park.

The recovered vehicle was booked in at the Lenasia SAPS pound.

JMPD said it continues to work with members of the public to recover stolen vehicles and disrupt criminal activities across the City of Johannesburg.
