Ward 39 councillor has ear on the ground
Councillor requests for calm and understanding.
Ward 39 councillor Themba Msibi said that in the recent past Ward 39 has experienced a number of public discontents in as far as Eskom and Joburg Water projects.
He said some of the reasons cited by the community are the poor consultation process and failure to reinstate side walks and road reserves by both Switch Ova Campaign and Joburg Water, respectively.
“It it is important to note that these projects are attempting to address the national crisis faced by South Africa in as far as scarcity of water and electricity.
“Our ward is no exception in that during winter we experience power outages and unplanned water outages as well as periodical sewer blockage, hence we need a long lasting solution,” said Msibi.
He said he is aware that at this stage there might be households who are negatively affected by these projects and would like to reassure the affected residents that the matter is receiving attention at the highest level and feeback will be given through all available means of public discourse.
“We are requesting for calm and understanding during this period,” he said.
