ILC hosts international workshop

NGO to offer the kind of support that will enable disabled people to live a full and independent life.

The Independent Living Centre in Mofolo North hosted an international disability workshop for people living with disabilities.

The centre had their Japanese partners present at the workshop held yesterday, September 30.

The aim of the workshop was to engage people with different disabilities in the challenges they face on a daily basis.

The ultimate goal of the centre is to offer the kind of support that will enable disabled people to live a full and independent life.

The purpose of the workshop in this regard is to exchange different challenges and possible solutions to foster independence.

“As Japanese partners in the Independent Living programme, our primary role is to provide resources such as sending experts who can help people with specific disabilities.

“Our NGO works with the centre in training participants in peer counselling, so that they can engage with the community and invite other people with disabilities in the community,” said Taisuke Miyamoto who is the project manager of the centre.
