SANBS calls on citizens to #GiveATomorrow
New campaign encourages people to donate blood on Human Rights Day.
March is known as Human Rights month in this country.
This is due to the fact that March 21 is when South Africans celebrate Human Rights Day.
In keeping up with the spirit of human rights, the South African National Blood Services (SANBS) has launched a campaign called Give A Tomorrow.
This campaign seeks to encourage citizens to give a gift of life in the form of blood to those in need.
This gift of life is in line with the right to life enshrined in the constitution.
Many South Africans will be celebrating Human Rights Day thanks to the life saving blood donated by donors.
The Give A Tomorrow campaign emphasise the importance of donating blood to mothers in labour, cancer patients, accident victims and all those who are afforded a chance to see their tomorrow through blood donations.
SANBS communications Manager Vanessa Raju said what encourages them to continue doing blood donation drives is knowing that the blood they collect give life waiting to be lived meaningfully.
To meet the demand for blood, about 300O units of blood are collected by the SABS daily.
“We at SANBS hope that people who haven’t donated blood before will be inspired to take that big step by visiting one of our donation centres and embark on the fulfilling journey of ensuring the availability of this precious life-giving resource for those in need,” concluded Raju.
