ER24 paramedics went to Florida Lake after receiving a call about a newborn baby found yesterday afternoon.
Paramedics were contacted by the South African Police Services after the baby was apparently found floating in the lake.
Chitra Bodasing ER24 spokesperson said the incident was a very sad one as no one saw who dropped the baby off at the lake.
“Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics found the premature baby on the bank alongside the lake wrapped in a space blanket.
“After assessment of the baby it was found that there were no signs of life and the baby was declared dead,” said Bodasing.
The exact details surrounding the incident are unknown and police are investigating the case.
