Caregivers honour seniors
The centre is currently looking for funding as they are currently unable to pay salaries to the working staff.
Not only are these grannies getting basic health care service on their doorsteps but last week marked one of the most special gifts an elderly person could get which was being celebrated for being who they are.
This was the order of the day for elders from Jabulani and surrounding area as Philisane Home Based Care Centre hosted an honorary event for the elders last week.
The theme of the event was to celebrate life daily by fully embracing each day to the fullest regardless of your circumstance.
In the event at Jabulani Club House, caregivers pampered their beneficiaries with words of appreciation along with a fully prepared meal, dessert and a goodie bag for them to take home.

“I really enjoyed what the caregivers did for us, it was unexpected and it touched us because it’s not all of us who the chance to be appreciated like that.
“Not all of us have family members or people to show love, so what they did is really going to go along the way for many of us here today”, said Sipho Sibeko.
“They give us messages at our homes and they wash for us other than giving us home-based health care services.
“I practically had no knees and joints, I could hardly walk or do things myself up until I started getting messages from these girls from Philisane Home Based Care.
“Today I am active and I even exercise with the other ladies to keep healthy,” said Margaret Zungu a beneficiary of the centre.
Other than offering home-based care services, the centre also has referral services for orphaned and vulnerable children in the community.
