Keep fit through regular gym

Working out makes you feel good about yourself.

With only a few weeks into summer, many are still working on getting their summer bodies. While some are at the gym, others are jogging in their areas, and some have invented creative ways of getting fit this summer.

In general, exercise is not only meant for getting your summer bodies but it is for your physical and mental well-being. Tristan Jooste (20) who lives in Riverlea started exercising at just nine years old.

It all began when he lived with his grandfather for a few months and the two of them started jogging together.

Jooste’s grandfather also owned a few weights which inspired him to start lifting weights. Soon after these sessions, he aspired to be a big muscular guy.

“I personally started gymming without equipment and without a gym. I was working out at home with weight exercises,” said Jooste.

According to the youngster, it is not necessary to go to a gym.

“You can use things like your bag and fill it with books and use it to do arm curls, shoulder raises and squats. The best thing to do if you cannot afford gym fees is to use what you have at home,” explained Jooste.

According to him, people are prone to making excuses, so this is the cheapest way to go. People become lazy at home but it takes discipline and dedication and determination to exercise at home.

He said, “I started off with a bucket of water and my school bag, I used the curtain rail as a bar and some bricks as well. Afterwards, I got a bench and some weights to exercise with from home.”

Jooste said it was important to exercise because it keeps you mentally and physically fit and allows you to have better control over your muscles. Working out makes you feel good about yourself.

“I guess it’s in my blood because both my dad and mum’s family are athletic,” said Jooste.

Working out can also be a great stress reliever. He indicated that he tended to forget about his problems and stressed less because when he’s working out it’s all about him and his problems evaporate.

“Gymming is my drug, other people will drink alcohol and take drugs. I gym, that’s my drug,” said Jooste.
