These are the services Riverlea Clinic offers

Awareness of a healthy lifestyle.

The Riverlea Clinic held an open day with a theme of ‘awareness of a healthy lifestyle’ on March 14. According to Florence Mosiane, the operational manager of the Riverlea Clinic, an open day at the clinic is just an awareness day for the residents to know what kind of services they offer at the Riverlea Clinic.

“We also have our referrals where we would refer the patient to the social worker, we also have the Langlaagte police station that will assist with domestic violence and so on, it’s actually a day where we make them aware of all the services that are around us too.

“Today is mostly health awareness and how does one improve their lifestyles, especially with the pandemic of listeriosis, we also called the environmental health officers to explain to the residents in terms of that illnesses, we speak about what type of symptoms they must be aware of, and we also doing TB awareness.

“We also have the fitness club to encourage active and healthy living in our community,” explained Mosiane.

There were desks from different entities such as the Emergency Management Services, Langlaagte Police, Social Development, and Right to Care on that day. Guest speakers were Phillip Matsie, Allan Thompson, Leandi Macmaneveldt, Constable Kraai, and Chris Vivier.

Mosiane was expecting about 200 to 300 people to attend the open day. Services that were provided on the day to attendees were: pap smears, prostate cancer screening, HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT), blood pressure (Bp) screening, Tuberculosis (TB) screening, and gym activities. On February 23, the Westbury Clinic held a similar open day.
