The King and Queen of Johannesburg Older Person’s Forum

JOPF King and Queen.

The Johannesburg Older Person’s Forum (JOPF) hosted their JOPF King and Queen 2018 at the Coronationville recreation centre on May 25. The event started off with speeches and then the seniors from Survivor Senior Club took to stage to do their welcome item.

Ward Councillor Genevieve Sherman gave a speech and then a fitness item from the South African Senior Fitness Association was rendered on stage.

Nomhlobo Jwambi from the Johannesburg Social Development said; “the seniors are here today to showcase their talent and the JOPF was responsible for this event. I would like to single out Mrs Dorothy Rosenburg who is the oldest executive member on the forum and I love her so much, she along with her team made all of this possible today.”



Other executives were acknowledged as this was not an event only for Region B but it was for all the Regions within Johannesburg. The contest started right after a spiritual dance by the Survivors Senior Club.

The judges for the contest were Burnadette Grobbler a representative of Avbob and help senior, Mimi Oatsi the face of Continent Africa and Phyllis Modikoe from Avbob Funeral.

After all of the modelling and dancing by the contestants on stage, it was time for the judges to reveal whose fit to be the King and Queen of JOPF 2018.



All the contestants received warm winter blankets from Avbob and it was time for three senior ladies and three senior men to be selected.

When it came down to the ladies; Florence Dukazana was crowned the second princess, Kethleen May was crowned the first princess and Martha Leghlo was crowned the Queen of JOPF 2018.

From the male division, a very emotional and energetic Charles ‘Karetjie’ was crown King, leaving Markus as first prince and Leonard as the second prince.

After the whole event attendees, as well as contestants, sat down for a delicious lunch. The forum would like to acknowledge the stakeholders and sponsors who contributed to the event.

The stakeholders were AIA, the Department of Social Development, and the City of Johannesburg and the sponsors were Avbob, Motheo Construction, MashUp, Westbury Primary, Help Seniors, Rene du Plessis, Jasmine from the Apron and Shaun Adams from Skin Magic.
