Miller explained that the lockdown has made things very difficult for them because their whole .

“We had the intention of changing our time frames where we rather have the children come for training after school and have the senior players in the morning as well as the elderly players.

“Our goal was also to get our senior players into professional teams but with the lockdown, a lot of teams have not been able to sign players. A lot of teams have been in financial difficulty and some of our players are already professional players and need to be paid but they have been turned away by teams,” said Miller.

Since the start of the year, the development has not been working with the players because of the lockdown restrictions.

The managing director further explained that the lockdown has also affected them in terms of getting sponsorships for the development.
“The children are now roaming the streets and playing in the stadium and it is not safe for them. We are the people who they look up to, situations at home are not always okay for some of our players so our training gives them a sense of belonging when they are with us.

“We are now hoping that with the regulations being eased, it will give us a little more leverage to work with the players and keep them active again,” added Miller

According to the managing director, Candle Light Sports Development would like to own their premises where they can have a training center for the boys.
When the development is active, players train at the stadium in Eldorado Park Extension 9. Miller is hopeful for everyone to start seeing their vision for the young players in the community and that the community will invest in the development of the sport.
