Community members gathered in revolutionary songs outside the home of the 28-year-old who was found murdered over a week ago.

According to the family her lifeless body was discovered naked in an open veld in Bekkersdaal on the morning of October 13.

Family spokesperson, Patience Mbele said the family was still reeling in shock at the gruesome manner in which their daughter died.

“We were informed on Thursday, and we rushed to the scene but we were not able to see her. We were able to identify her at a later stage. We are deeply saddened that she was killed so violently.

“Her mother is devastated. We don’t know what may have occurred or who could have committed such a cruel crime. They snatched her from us,” said Mbele.

The family told Urban News that preliminary police findings suggested that Luvuno had been robbed as her phone and pursue were missing. They also added that she had sustained three gunshot wounds on the upper body.

Furthermore, the family said they could not confirm if Luvuno was raped as they were still awaiting a full autopsy report, expected before the funeral.

“We want justice for our daughter. We want those who did this to be arrested and convicted,” Mbele said.

“We will wait for police investigations but we can say we suspect the Zama Zamas as there is a closed mine where she was found and we hear this was the third murder in the area recently and all were killed in the same manner,” she told Urban News.

According to reports, Luvuno left home on Wednesday, October 12, after 5pm heading to visit the father of her children.

An emotional neighbour, Patricia Thango, who was among the family who saw the body of Luvana at the morgue, described the extent of injuries as something she will not forget.

“What I can tell you is that she did not deserve to die like that.

The bruises and damage to her face are horrifying. She looked as though they repeatedly smashed her head against a rock.

Her head so fractured, the one side lost its shape.

When we were at the scene, traces of her blood could still be seen on the ground and stones there.

“The dress she was wearing was not found- only the remaining sandal at the scene,” she said.

The ANC in the branch where Luvuno served as the fundraiser condemned the incident and further called on the police to act swiftly and apprehend those linked to the incident.

Vincent Khosa, Member of ANC PEC branch executive committee said, “As ANC Adelaide Tambo branch, we want to send a strong message.

We do not condone violence on women and children.

What has happened here is devastating.

This can’t be our normal. We can’t let our sisters and mother continue to be subjected to such brutality.

“Criminals must be arrested and not protected. Let’s protect our communities.”
