A 61-year-old man who was a taxi queue marshal was gunned down at Nancefield Hostel last week Monday evening.

Members of Moroka SAPS received a compliant of murder from the community service centre (CSC) at about 19:20 in the evening.

The police who attended to the crime scene, upon arrival discovered the body of the deceased lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

Police Spokesperson, Captain Sifiso Mabizela said, “The decease’s body was full of blood and it had multiple guns shot wounds on the body and head. It was also surrounded by nine cartridges.”

According to residents, the deceased was a queue marshal around the area and he was from work.

No one saw what transpired but they heard gunshots and they went outside only to find the deceased lying on the ground.

Mabizela said the suspect is still yet unknown and urged anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.

Police are assuring the community that all information provided or given regarding this incident will be treated with high confidentiality.

“We cannot rule out the possibility of the incident being linked to taxi violence,” Mabizela continued.
