Jozi FM celebrates Mother’s Day

The women gathered in the hall celebrated the special day over good food, music and later received gift bags from Jozi FM.

The joys of motherhood bought mothers in the area together to celebrate Mothers Day over lunch at Diepkloof Hall on May 14.

The lunch which was hosted by Jozi FM CEO, Mpho Mhlongo known as ‘Njomane’ was aimed at celebrating and commemorating women in the community as well as to remind them of their resilience regardless of the challenges they may be facing.

Local mothers enjoyed their day through lunch, good conversations and music.

The women gathered in the hall celebrated the special day over good food, music and later received gift bags from Jozi FM.

When speaking on the importance of celebrating mothers in the area Njomane said, “It is important that we acknowledge the role that mothers play in our lives and all the work they do.

“So today we just want to spoil them and give back for all the work they do, mothers always go an extra mile worrying and carrying for their families and homes.

“This is a special time where we thank them for being mothers and playing an important role in our lives.”

Njomane added that as a radio station, they have a lot of listeners who are mothers and as this day comes once a year, they want to ensure that they utilise it and make it memorable for them.

Jozi FM CEO, Mpho Mhlongo commemorated mothers in the area.

As part of the station’s future plans for Mothers Day celebration, they hope to host mothers in a tranquil location away from home where they can unwind.

“Mothers play an important role in our lives and communities so it is important that we show them love and celebrate them more than anything else as well as thank them for being a part of us.

“The next celebration will be taken to the next level, where they will get pampered in a spa.

Local mother’s gathered in Diepkloof Hall to celebrate Mother’s Day.

“We do this because we understand what they are going through as mothers as they bring up children and care for families, they carry a lot in their shoulders and deserve to be acknowledged.”

One of the attendees, Thando Makhobo who also celebrated her birthday on the day said, “This is a wonderful experience as we get to meet with other mothers and just have a great time. It also shows us that we still have people who care about the well-being of mothers.”
