Multi-vehicle accident on Elias Motsoaledi Road, Meadowlands

The crash involved two Toyota Quantum minibus taxis and a waste compactor truck.

JMPD officers responded to a horrific multi-vehicle crash on Elias Motsoaledi Road, Meadowlands, on the morning of March 5.

Two Toyota minibus taxis and a waste compactor truck were involved in the crash.

It is reported that one minibus taxi was travelling northbound on Elias Motsoaledi Road towards Braam Fischer Road into the oncoming traffic when it collided with the waste compactor truck and the second minibus taxi which was travelling southbound towards Edwin Makhetha Street.

The waste compactor truck driver sustained no injuries

The northbound minibus taxi carried 16 passengers. Ten sustained serious injuries and one minor injury was reported.

The drivers of the southbound minibus taxi and compactor truck sustained no injuries.

All injured passengers were transported to various hospitals.

The minibus taxi that was traveling southbound towards Edwin Makhetha Street.

A case of reckless and negligent driving will be opened at Dobsonville SAPS for further investigation.
