Nonhlelelwa Matsebula convicted for murder of Protea Geln minor

The SAPS welcomes the sentence handed down to Nonhlelelwa Matsebula (35) who was found guilty of murder and kidnapping of a four-year-old girl in Protea Glen.
Matsebula was sentenced to 30 years of direct imprisonment by the Johannesburg High Court on March 5.

The investigation, led by Captain Isaac Kubheka from the Orlando Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit (FCSU), revealed that Matsebula had subjected the victim to horrific treatment, including drugging and binding her, before placing her in a suitcase and attempting to flee using an Uber.
The child’s mother intervened, discovering her daughter in the suitcase, but tragically, the child passed away four days later.

The SAPS commends Kubheka for his diligent work in ensuring justice was served in this case. “The sentence serves as a reminder of the commitment of the SAPS to protect the rights and safety of all citizens including vulnerable children,” Kubheka said.
