Local soccer tournament to empower youth
Football and community pride met as NKA Soweto United Academy won the Let’s Play with Coach Top 4 Tournament.
The Ngaphandle Kokukholwa Akathokozi (NKA) Soweto United Academy recently represented Ward 29 in the highly anticipated Top 4 Soccer Tournament, Let’s Play with Coach.
The event was organised by ActionSA in collaboration with NKA.
It brought together three teams from Ward 29 and two from Orlando, aiming to empower local soccer talent and encourage youth and sports communities to participate in the upcoming Ward 29 councillor elections.
Highlights of the day included both finalist teams receiving brand-new soccer kits courtesy of ActionSA, while the champions walked away with R1 500 in cash and a new soccer ball.

NKA Soweto United Academy emerged victorious, taking home the winner’s prize.
Speaking at the event, ActionSA provincial liaison officer and tournament organiser Jabu Mabunda emphasised the value of collaboration with local stakeholders.
“This tournament shows the power of partnerships between community organisations and political leadership in building opportunities for young people.”
“The success today is thanks to the strong cooperation between ActionSA and NKA,” Mabunda said.

The tournament not only celebrated local football talent but also aimed to strengthen community unity and youth engagement in Ward 29.
