Three armed suspects killed after evading police from KZN to Gauteng
A collaborative sting operation involving SAPS, Gauteng and KZN units resulted in a fatal shootout on the N3. Police shot dead three suspects and recovered two unlicensed firearms from their vehicle.
After the SAPS received information about a cash-in-transit robbery, a shootout erupted between three criminals and law enforcement agencies on the N3 on July 4.
A multi-disciplinary team comprising the SAPS Counter Intelligence, the Gauteng Tactical Response Unit, the Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, Community Active Protection specialised operations, the SBV Services investigation department, Tracker Connect, Gemini Global Defence, and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) counterparts acted on intelligence about criminals travelling in a Toyota Fortuner SUV from KZN to Gauteng.

The team maintained surveillance of the vehicle on the N3. When they tried to stop it, the driver sped off, triggering a chase that led to a shootout with police.
Law enforcers fatally shot three criminals and recovered two unlicensed firearms in their vehicle.
This incident was part of an ongoing intelligence operation by law enforcement officers from Gauteng and KZN.
