Suspects arrested for armed robbery in Lenasia
During their arrest, the officers recovered two large knives and the victim's stolen cellphone.
The JMPD Region G Operations officers, who conducted a vehicle checkpoint on R554 works near the Rietfontein Fire Station in Lenasia, responded to an armed robbery in progress occurring in the nearby bushes on August 30.
“Back-up was immediately requested, and officers located the victim, who confirmed he had been robbed by three men carrying a firearm and a large knife. The victim’s cellphone had been stolen,” said JMPD’s spokesperson, Xolani Fihla.

Following a search of the area, JMPD officers located the three suspects. During their apprehension, officers recovered two large knives and the victim’s cellphone.
“The three individuals were arrested, and a case of armed robbery and possession of dangerous weapons was opened at Lenasia SAPS.”
The JMPD commends the swift action of the officers and thanks the vigilant members of the public for their assistance, which led to the successful arrest and recovery of stolen property.
