Double life term for man who raped and murdered Orlando East child

Mozambican national Sara Pete Simiao, who raped and strangled Amantle Samane to death at Orlando East in October 2024, was sentenced by the Johannesburg High Court on Monday, September 1.

Simiao lured Samane, who was playing with her friends, to his rented shack, where he raped and strangled her to death.

After committing this heinous crime, he fled the scene, which led the residents and police on a manhunt around Soweto.

The presiding judge in the case, William Karam, sentenced Simiao to two years for kidnapping, a life sentence for rape, another life sentence for murder and an additional two years for Contravening the Immigration Act.
