The SAPS has confirmed the continuation of Operation Shanela Soft Approach, which entered its third day at the Hector Peterson Museum in Orlando West.

The initiative, led by the Provincial Social Crime Prevention, aims to complement the weekly Operation Shanela enforcement activities, held on Thursdays and Saturdays, across Gauteng.

During the event, various stakeholders, including the Department of Correctional Services, the Community Police Forum, and other community partners, set up stalls to showcase their services.

Members of the public were able to interact with officials, ask questions, and learn more about safety, rehabilitation, and support services available in their communities.

According to SAPS, the ‘soft approach’ focuses on community engagement and awareness, ensuring that crime prevention efforts go beyond policing to include education and collaboration with civil society.
