Orlando community on edge as surge in house robberies sparks fear

Residents are raising the alarm after a spike in targeted house robberies, with police confirming multiple cases and ongoing investigations.

Residents are on high alert following a recent spike in house robberies that left the community anxious and increasingly fearful for their safety.

Community members report that perpetrators have been breaking into homes, often targeting rooms occupied by tenants, where valuables such as electronics and personal belongings are taken.

Several cases have since been opened at the Orlando Police Station as the pattern of burglaries grows more concerning.

Police have confirmed that investigations are underway and say they are hopeful that arrests will be made soon as they work to track down those responsible.

Community representative Mongezi Mbatha has called on residents to unite in strengthening neighbourhood safety. He urged the community to form local patrols to help deter criminal activity and to support each other in reporting suspicious behaviour promptly.

Mbatha also appealed for increased police visibility and a more robust crime-prevention effort to address the rising threat and restore a sense of security in the area.
